About

Persians are the quintessential long-haired lap cat โ€” gentle, quiet, and deeply affectionate. Their luxurious coats and sweet flat faces make them one of the most recognizable breeds in the world.

History

Persians originated in Persia (modern-day Iran) and were brought to Europe in the 1600s by Italian nobleman Pietro della Valle. They became enormously popular among Victorian-era aristocracy and have been a fixture of cat shows since the very first in London in 1871.

Calm, gentle, quiet, devoted to their families. Prefers a peaceful home.

Daily grooming is essential to prevent matting. Regular eye cleaning is needed due to their flat face structure. They are indoor-only cats.
