Holland Lop

About

Holland Lops are the most popular rabbit breed in the US โ€” small, compact, and utterly adorable with their floppy ears and round faces. They are social butterflies that love attention.

History

The Holland Lop was developed in the Netherlands by breeder Adriann de Cock in the 1950s by crossing French Lops with Netherland Dwarfs. After years of selective breeding to reduce the size, the breed was recognized by the Dutch Rabbit Breeders Association in 1964 and by the ARBA in 1979.

๐Ÿง  Temperament

Playful, affectionate, and social. Can be energetic but also love to cuddle.

๐Ÿ  Care Notes

Their lop ears are prone to ear infections โ€” regular ear checks are essential. Medium-maintenance grooming. Very social โ€” best kept with a bonded companion.

โœจ Fun Fact

Holland Lops are one of the smallest lop-eared rabbit breeds, weighing just 2โ€“4 lbs at adulthood.
